Marian Hossa scored with 2:06 remaining to lift the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers on Monday night at Atlanta.

Hossa scored when the Senators, who started a four-game road trip, took advantage of a turnover by the Thrashers.

Atlanta defenseman Chris Tamer lost the puck behind the Thrashers’ net. Radek Bonk recovered the puck and passed to Hossa, who whipped the shot past Milan Hnilicka, for his team-high seventh goal.

“It was a pretty nice pass,” Hossa said. “I was surprised I was so open.”

Jani Hurme stopped 31 shots to raise his record to 6-1-3 for the Senators. Two weeks ago, Hurme relinquished a 5-1 lead against the Thrashers in a 6-6 tie.

Atlanta’s Hnilicka, starting in place of the injured Damian Rhodes, made 17 saves.

The Thrashers, looking for their first home victory of the season, are 0-4-2 at Philips Arena. Atlanta controlled play the first eight minutes by holding Ottawa, one of the league’s top scoring teams, without a shot.

Atlanta took a 1-0 lead with 11:42 remaining in the first period when Steve Guolla took Tomi Kallio’s pass in front of the net and stuffed in a shot.

Ottawa tied it on the power play with 9:23 left in the first when Bonk controlled a rebound of a missed shot.
