Mickey’s New Adventures: A new Mickey Mouse series, “Disney’s House of Mouse,” will premiere on ABC’s Saturday morning schedule in January. The animated series--which will feature Disney’s entire stable of cartoon characters--will be set in a “Toontown-style ‘nightclub’ where animated characters are entertained each Saturday with Mickey Mouse acting as master of ceremonies, telling jokes, introducing musical guests and prefacing the cartoon shorts ‘shown’ on the club’s oversized screen.” Also set to join ABC’s Saturday morning schedule in early 2001 is “Disney’s Lloyd in Space,” about a “space station-bound alien teenager” making his “often confusing transition to adulthood.”

Early Film Honors: In one of the first possible indicators for the impending Oscar race, the European Film Academy has nominated Nick Park’s animated “Chicken Run,” the Lars von Trier movie “Dancer in the Dark” and Britain’s “Billy Elliot,” plus the French-language films “Harry, Un Ami Qui Vous Veut Du Bien” (“Harry, He Is Here to Help”) and “Le Gou^t des Autres” (“It Takes All Kinds”) as the European Film of 2000. Acting nominees include “Billy Elliot’s” Julie Walters and Jamie Bell, and “Dancer in the Dark’s” Bjork. The awards, held in Paris, will be televised Dec. 2 on cable’s Sundance Channel. . . . Meanwhile, “Billy Elliot,” about an English boy in a coal mining town who develops a passion for ballet, was named best distributed feature film at the recently concluded Austin Film Festival in Texas.

Trevi Facing Extradition: Pop star Gloria Trevi, dubbed Mexico’s Madonna, will probably remain jailed in Brazil into December, when judicial authorities are finally expected to rule on her extradition over sexual abuse charges that have shocked fans across Latin America, Brazilian court sources said this week. Trevi has been jailed in Brazil since mid-January, when she and her manager, along with a backup singer, were arrested in Rio de Janeiro after fleeing Mexico on charges of corrupting minors, rape and kidnapping. Brazilian Supreme Court sources say the panel is likely to grant Trevi’s extradition to Mexico, where authorities have labored for nearly two years to bring the controversial singer to trial.

“Law & Order” producer Dick Wolf, whose latest series, “Deadline,” was one of the new TV season’s early cancellations, has, as expected, signed with NBC for a third weekly installment of his successful “L&O;” franchise. In “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” slated for the 2001-2002 season, Wolf plans to focus on the point of view of the criminals as well as police and prosecutors. As with “L&O;: Special Victims Unit,” the new series will have a shared broadcast window with cable’s USA Network. . . . Newly reelected Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) will present “Politically Incorrect” host Bill Maher with the Open Mike Freedom of Expression Award at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood tonight during a 7 p.m. ACLU fund-raiser (tickets: $75 and $10). The Laugh Factory gives the award annually to spotlight the political importance of stand-up comedians. . . . Actress-model Lauren Hutton has been released from a Las Vegas hospital after being treated for injuries from a motorcycle crash near Las Vegas. Hutton, 55, suffered multiple leg fractures and a broken wrist in the Oct. 21 crash.
