Miami’s Thomas Won’t Play

Miami Dolphin linebacker Zach Thomas, the team’s leading tackler the last four seasons, will be sidelined a third consecutive game because of a sprained right ankle.

Thomas initially suffered the injury Sept. 24 against the New England Patriots, but didn’t sit out until aggravating the injury against the New York Jets on Oct. 24. He hasn’t played since. His backup, Larry Izzo, is questionable because of a pinched nerve.

Oakland Raider kicker Sebastian Janikowski remained hospitalized for a bacterial infection in his kicking foot, and the team took a look at Brett Conway in case Janikowski is not ready to play against the Denver Broncos. . . . Doug Flutie is expected to make his fourth consecutive start for the Buffalo Bills while Rob Johnson recovers from a shoulder injury. . . . New England extended receiver Terry Glenn’s contract through the 2007 season. . . . Moses Moreno will start at quarterback for the San Diego Chargers on Sunday against Miami. . . . The Baltimore Ravens put receiver Travis Taylor on injured reserve because of a broken left collarbone, ending his rookie season.
