ANAHEIM

7:30pm

Pop Music

Washington D.C.-bred singer-songwriter Erica Wheeler brings her bluegrass-steeped music to downtown Anaheim as part of the Living Tradition’s continuing concert series. Her latest album, 1999’s “Three Wishes,” is rich in evocative imagery and unvarnished introspection that’s made her a favorite on the contemporary folk scene.

* Erica Wheeler, Anaheim Downtown Community Center, 250 E. Center St. With Chris Berry. 7:30 p.m. $9 to $10. Children younger than 18 free with adult admission. (949) 646-1964.

What’s so unusual about Saturday’s show at Linda’s Doll Hut isn’t the lineup--rising Texas roots-country group 1100 Springs and O.C. country singer-songwriter extraordinaire Chris Gaffney are exactly the kind of sterling acts that typify owner Linda Jemison’s wide-ranging booking tastes. The audience will be the intriguing element here because the concert is part of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County’s Eclectic Orange Festival, which aims to expose adventuresome classical music fans to other forms of music worthy of attention. It’s being promoted with a high-concept name--American Roadhouse II--but if black ties are worn, they’d better be of the bolo variety.
