Lightweights Headline Card in Irvine

Lightweights Miguel Huerta of Mexico City and Memo Moreno of Banning will headline tonight’s seven-bout boxing card at the Irvine Marriott.

Huerta (10-1, five knockouts) has never fought in this country. Moreno (5-4, one knockout) has fought six times at the Marriott.

In the semi-main event, lightweight Mike Anchondo (6-0) of La Puente will face Arturo Flores (3-1) of San Fernando.

Heavyweight Javier Mora (2-0-1, two knockouts) of Westminster is featured on the undercard. Mora, who went to the consolation semifinals of this year’s U.S. Olympic Trials, is coming off a draw with James Lester of Oakland last month at The Pond. Mora will take on Michael Bliss (0-1) of Las Vegas in a four-round fight.

Other undefeated boxers on the undercard are super middleweight Enrique Ornelas (5-0) of La Habra and middleweight Charles Blake (4-0) of Escondido. The undercard for the Marriott’s last show of 2000 begins at 7:30. For tickets, call the Irvine Marriott at 949-553-0100.
