Miami Dolphin linebacker Zach Thomas will sit out his fourth consecutive game Sunday because of an ankle injury.

The Dolphins put Thomas on the inactive list, meaning he will not play against the New York Jets. He said the injury also threatens his availability next week at Indianapolis.

“I’m not playing this week, and I don’t know about next week, either,” Thomas said. “It’s frustrating because I have a lot of stuff wrong down there. I think I’d almost rather have broken the ankle than have the ligament damage, because you know the bone is going to heal and you know how long it’s going to take.”

Rookie running back Sammy Morris, who leads the Buffalo Bills with five touchdowns, hasn’t recovered from an ankle injury and won’t play in Sunday’s game at Kansas City. Without Morris, veterans Antowain Smith and Jonathan Linton, who have played sparingly over the last month, probably will get more time backing up Shawn Bryson, who leads the Bills with 326 yards on 94 carries. . . . The San Diego Chargers signed Kevin Daft from the practice squad to the active roster to give them three quarterbacks for Sunday’s game at Denver. . . . Rookie outside linebacker John Abraham, who has been sidelined since Oct. 15 because of a hernia, was put on injured reserve by the New York Jets. To replace Abraham on the roster, the Jets signed tackle Cornell Green, who was on the practice squad.
