SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Donta Jackson scored three touchdowns and Damian Huff scored two to lead Rialto Eisenhower to a 35-21 victory over Los Alamitos in a first-round Division I playoff game Friday at Eisenhower.

Eisenhower had 483 yards in total offense and held Los Alamitos to 212 yards. Jackson and Huff ran for a combined 217 yards. The Griffins were unable to generate any momentum in the first half, gaining only 43 total yards and trailing Eisenhower at halftime, 21-0.

“Eisenhower looks better in person than on the game films,” Los Alamitos Coach John Barnes said.

The Eagles (10-1), who will face Mater Dei next week, drove 90 yards in 16 plays on their first possession. Jackson caught a 21-yard pass from Idris Moss to give Eisenhower a 7-0 lead with 57 seconds left in the first quarter.

Jackson added touchdown runs of 10 and four yards in the second quarter as Eisenhower.

The first time Los Alamitos (8-3) touched the ball in the second half resulted in a freak touchdown. Eagle punter Michael Hawkins had to chase down an errant snap before getting the ball away.

The kick bounced off the leg of a Griffin defender back into the end zone, where Bob Crissman fell on the ball for the touchdown.

It didn’t take Eisenhower long to respond. Three plays after the kickoff, Huff raced 57 yards for a touchdown. He led the Eagles with 121 yards on 16 carries.

Los Alamitos’ Adam Nauta ran 12 yards for a touchdown with just over seven minutes left in the third quarter, making the score 28-13. But Huff capped Eisenhower’s scoring when he ran in for a touchdown from seven yards out with less than six minutes left.
