Miguel Suazo scored the game’s only goal 10:56 into the first overtime period as San Diego defeated UCLA, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA men’s soccer playoffs at San Diego.

Before a standing-room-only crowd of 4,000, the Toreros (16-1-2) ended the Bruins’ season when Suazo beat UCLA goalie DJ Countess to the right corner for his fifth goal of the season.

UCLA finished 12-7-0 after winning its first eight matches of the season.

Juan Carlos Bolanos and Joe Cartlidge scored first-half goals and No. 1-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated West Texas A&M;, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs in Carson.

Bolanos scored in the 13th minute off an assist from Scott White. Cartlidge added the second goal with eight seconds remaining in the half on a header off a cross from Sean Lockhart.

The Toros (21-1-1) advanced to their first Final Four and will play Lewis University of Illinois in the semifinals on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1. Lewis defeated Wheeling Jesuit of West Virginia, 1-0.
