Workshop on Mine Operation Planned

Truck traffic has been a source of agitation among Grimes Canyon mine operators, local officials and residents for many years.
In an effort to get people talking, the Ventura County Planning Commission has scheduled a workshop on the issue from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 30 in the Board of Supervisors room at the County Government Center at 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura.
The meeting room is in the administrative building.
People should have a better understanding of the challenges faced by mine owners and truck drivers after the event, said county planner Pat Richards.
In addition, residents will find out who to call if they have questions or complaints.
Scheduled to speak are representatives from the county Transportation Commission and Transportation Department, the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans.
The commission also is seeking comments from mine operators, Moorpark and Fillmore officials, truck drivers, property owners and others affected by the industry.
For more information, call Richards at 654-5192.
