Cooler Days Bring End to Fire Season
Orange County’s fire season ended Monday, meaning that some high-risk areas closed to the public during hot weather will be reopened, officials said.
“When we start getting cooler temperatures with increased moisture, it obviously makes it more difficult for plants to burn,” said Paul Hunter, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority.
The fire season began May 15.
“We’ve had a normal fall, and it’s been a little cooler,” Hunter said. “This was really an uneventful fire season. For us and for the state in general, it’s been very light.”
Areas near O’Neill Regional Park, Cleveland National Forest and Laguna Canyon Road are among those to be reopened.
