* LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (1-0) AT UC IRVINE (1-0), 7--Maybe Loyola Marymount is playing at the wrong level. Its 87-64 victory over tiny Vanguard of the NAIA was the Lions’ third consecutive win against a small-school opponent and it snapped a 15-game losing streak. Now Coach Steve Aggers, Loyola’s first-year coach, can turn his attention to the Lions’ 28-game losing streak against Division I teams and their 20-game road losing streak. Irvine, which got 22 points and nine rebounds out of senior forward Ben Jones in a 71-44 victory over Howard, plays its first five games at home before traveling to UCLA Dec. 16.
