An unarmed man robbed a Washington Mutual Bank branch of an undisclosed sum of money Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The robbery occurred about 4:30 p.m. in a shopping center in the 2400 block of Harbor Boulevard, police said.

The robber, who was wearing a beanie knit cap and sunglasses, handed a note demanding money to a teller, who gave him all of the cash in her drawer, officers said.

“The note made threats to the teller that she would be harmed,” Ventura Police Lt. Doug Auldridge said.

The robber, who was last seen walking toward a Vons store in the shopping center, was described as Latino, mid-30s, 6 foot, 155 pounds and was wearing a blue flannel shirt and dark pants.

FBI Special Agent Brent Robbins said two witnesses said they thought they recognized the man. Robbins said he will review video surveillance tape from the bank.
