Giguere Expected to Make Debut

Goaltender Guy Hebert’s injured left shoulder wasn’t significantly improved Friday, so he didn’t dress against the Calgary Flames. It’s unlikely he’ll dress tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere is scheduled to make his Duck debut tonight. Giguere, acquired from Calgary last summer for a second-round draft pick, served as Dominic Roussel’s backup for the Ducks’ 2-2 tie Friday against the Flames.

Hebert, accidentally bowled over by teammate German Titov in Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils, did not participate in Friday’s morning skate. His status is day to day, according to Coach Craig Hartsburg.

“He’s fine, but he’s not going to dress,” Hartsburg said. “I would imagine he’s still pretty sore. I don’t imagine he’ll dress [tonight] either. Giguere is going to play.”

Giguere was 6-5-1 with a 2.27 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in 12 appearances with Cincinnati of the American Hockey League.

Titov also did not play Friday. He experienced dizziness after New Jersey defenseman Scott Stevens delivered a tough check Wednesday.

Samuel Pahlsson, a 22-year-old rookie forward, replaced Titov and made his Duck debut. Pahlsson was acquired Nov. 23 from the Boston Bruins for winger Andrei Nazarov and defenseman Patrick Traverse. Pahlsson played between wingers Paul Kariya and Marty McInnis on Friday.
