Irvine’s Exon Eliminated at Girls’ 16 Championships
Irvine’s Elizabeth Exon was eliminated from the National Open girls’ 16 tennis championships, losing to Yelena Olshanskaya of Los Angeles at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center Sunday.
Olshanskaya, the seventh seed, upset second-seeded Exon, 7-6 (5), 6-3, to advance to today’s championship.
In doubles, Serena Fermin of Yorba Linda and Taylynn Snyder of Rancho Santa Margarita advanced to the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Daron Moore of Studio City and Cristina Visico of Long Beach. Fermin and Snyder will play Kady Pooler of Dana Hills and Juliana Gates of San Diego in the semifinal.

Ashley Williams of Irvine advanced to the consolation championship of the National Open girls’ 14 tournament at Sunny Hills Racquet Club in Fullerton.
Williams defeated Amanda Craddock of Chesterfield, Mo., 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, and will play Jessica Nguyen of Chatsworth in today’s final.
In the boys’ division, Carsten Ball of Newport Beach defeated Laguna Niguel’s Lee Singer, 6-0, 6-0, to advance to the consolation championship. Ball will face second-seeded Andrew Eklov of Manhattan Beach in the finals.
