Alan Tapie and Ray Carrasco survived the 36-hole cut at the Senior PGA Tour qualifying tournament in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Tapie, of Dana Point, shot four-under 68 in the second round and is at two-under 142. Carrasco, of Irvine, shot 73 for a 144 total. The cut fell at 144.
The top 16 finishers in the 72-hole event will receive 2001 tour cards, with the top eight getting full exemptions. Tapie is tied for 46th; Carrasco is tied for 67th.
The leader is Bill Holstead of Wichita Falls, Texas, who has a one-shot lead over Bob Gilder, a six-time winner on the PGA Tour. Holstead is at 13-under-par.
