Boy, 16, Critically Injured in Car Crash
A 16-year-old Ventura boy was reported in critical condition at Ventura County Medical Center after he ran his car into a tree on Telephone Road early Saturday morning.
The teenager was driving east in the 5900 block of Telephone Road about 1:30 a.m. when he struck a curb, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and smash into a tree on the westbound side of the road, police said.
The boy, who was the only person in the car, suffered internal injuries and underwent emergency surgery.
Police said alcohol and drugs were involved in the crash.
The driver was wearing his seat belt, police said.
