Agreement Ensures CSUN Admission

Cal State Northridge and its satellite campus near Camarillo have agreed to offer guaranteed admission to transfer students from Moorpark College who completea sequence of courses and maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average.

The transfer agreement, signed by the presidents of the three campuses during a ceremony Monday, also guarantees Moorpark students a spot in the major program of their choice.

This semester, the CSUN satellite campus closed admission to undergraduates applying as business administration and liberal studies majors because all positions had been filled.

“This is a chance for a student to call ahead and get a reservation,” said Steve LeFevre, director of the campus, which is due to become an independent Cal State University within two years. “We’ll hold a space for you.”

Under the terms of the agreement, which takes effect immediately, students must complete 56 transferable units of general-education course work and the lower-division requirements of their prospective major.

Students who sign a transfer agreement may redeem the admission guarantee at either the CSUN satellite campus or the main campus in Northridge, where they would then be enrolled as juniors.

CSUN and its Ventura County campus are finalizing similar agreements with Oxnard and Ventura colleges, LeFevre said.
