4 Hurt by Gunfire Near Police Station
Four people were shot in quick succession Tuesday night within a block of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Station.
The gunfire broke out shortly before 8 p.m., and police found four people wounded, said an officer at the station on South Central Avenue near 34th Street.
One victim was found in the 1200 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and another near Naomi Avenue and 35th Street, the officer said. The other two victims were located nearby.
All four were in stable condition.
The victims, all on foot, apparently were shot by two people also on foot, police said.
The attack is believed to be gang-related.
The shooters fled, and police sealed off an area around the station to search for them.
