Marina fans are hoping this won’t be a repeat of the 1994 season, when the Vikings started 5-0, lost to Los Alamitos and began a downward spiral that ended without a playoff berth. Marina quarterback Beau Brown has been utilized mostly for his running ability so far this season, but he must open up the passing attack so the Los Alamitos defense can’t clamp down on the run. The Griffin offense, which sputtered during most of last week’s narrow victory over Kennedy, will look to get back on track behind running back Adam Nauta and quarterback Mike Catalano.
