No. 3 Virginia Tech Rolls, 48-20
Andre Davis scored three touchdowns in the third quarter and No. 3 Virginia Tech overcame its first deficit of the season to defeat West Virginia, 48-20, on Thursday night in Blacksburg, Va.
In a span of 6:06, Davis scored on a 30-yard reverse, a 64-yard pass from Michael Vick and a 76-yard punt return, his third return for a touchdown this season. It gave the Hokies, 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big East, a 34-14 lead.
West Virginia (4-2, 2-2), which turned the Hokies away time and again and led 14-7 at halftime, couldn’t keep it going after the break when Virginia Tech stopped hurting itself with mistakes and unleashed Davis.
The Hokies have won 17 consecutive regular-season games.

Officials at Oregon State say Coach Dennis Erickson has been worth about $14 million to the school in increased ticket sales, TV appearances and donations since he took the job in January of 1999.
Season ticket sales have risen to 14,800 from 6,000 in 35,562-seat Reser Stadium since Erickson arrived. Donations to the Beaver Athletic Scholarship Fund increased to $3.1 million from $800,000, the school said.
Oregon State, which appeared on national TV twice in 1998, averages about $250,000 for each television appearance, Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart said. The Beavers made five appearances last season and are scheduled for at least three this year.
