Sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested a 25-year-old Palmdale man who allegedly stabbed a repossessor who was trying to take away his girlfriend’s car, authorities said.

The attack occurred Thursday afternoon, when 37-year-old Harold King of Lancaster and his partner went to an apartment in the 1000 block of East Avenue R. The two men were attempting to repossess a 1993 Toyota belonging to 22-year-old Jeanine Peters of Palmdale, authorities said.

Peters tried to stop the repossession by assaulting King, said Sgt. Michael Graham of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Palmdale station.

Peters’ boyfriend, Steven Michael Torres, jumped in and stabbed King in the neck, Graham said.

King was taken to a local hospital, where officials said he remained in critical condition Friday. His partner witnessed the attack but was not injured.

Peters was arrested at the scene but Torres ran away, authorities said. He returned to the apartment Friday and was arrested there on suspicion of attempted murder, Graham said. Bail was set at $1 million each for Peters and Torres.
