Scott Thompson. Christina Aguilera. Greg Brady. Will the real Slim Shady please standup?

Ah, wait, no way, you’re kidding, he didn’t just say what I think he said, did he?

Yep.

All three figure in Eminem parody songs that have aired on either television or radio on a limited basis and are currently available in MP3 format on Napster and the World Wide Web.

The parody by Thompson, who was one of the original members of Canadian comedy troupe Kids in the Hall, was the most recent to hit the digital airwaves.

Co-produced by music Web site Soundbreak.com, “Dear Marshall” is a sendup of Eminem’s controversial single “Stan”--with a gay slant that tweaks the rapper’s aggressive and apparently unapologetic homophobic references in some of his music.

The tune is posted at https://www.soundbreak.com/events/thompson/index.php.

“I’m obsessed with Eminem,” says the openly gay Thompson, who performed his song Oct. 13 on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” “I think he’s a brilliant artist and I love hip-hop music, but I also think he’s a deeply troubled guy. I find his album a cry for help, and the moment I heard it I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I’m just a sucker for damaged goods and rage-aholics.”

Thompson says his goal is to be featured on Eminem’s next album even if it’s in a skit with homophobic currents. “In rap music, the worst thing is to be [gay]. But when you’re [gay] and it’s no big deal, they can’t hurt you.”

The second parody, “My Reply,” features Las Vegas singer Emily Ellis impersonating Christina Aguilera in a takeoff of Eminem’s smash single “The Real Slim Shady.”

Recorded for Las Vegas radio station KLUC-FM, the track has been played on numerous stations around the country, KLUC program director Cat Thomas said. The song, available at https://www.kluc.com/zoo.shtml, pokes fun at the rapper’s hyper-machismo. The chorus, delivered over the original song’s catchy hook, demands, “Will the real Slim Shady please shut up!”

“The Real Greg Brady” is less confrontational but still amusing. The song--co-written and sung by Barry Williams, the actor who played Greg Brady on the ‘70s sitcom “The Brady Bunch”--is a self-deprecating romp through the life of the former teen heartthrob.

The song is available as a commercial single via Internet retailers. A clip of the parody, plus lyrics, is online at https://www.barrywilliams.net/bravo/realgreg.htm.
