A Los Angeles City Council committee looking into increased aircraft noise from Los Angeles International Airport will discuss plans to hold regular community forums.

The council’s Committee on Commerce, Energy and Natural Resources will hear a report from airport officials during a meeting Wednesday.

The session will begin at 6 p.m. at the Westchester Municipal Building, Community Room, 7166 W. Manchester Ave.

Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, who heads the committee and whose district includes the airport, urged residents of Inglewood, Westchester, Playa del Rey and other communities affected by airport noise to attend.

Galanter pushed for airport officials to produce a plan for regular community forums after the disbandment of an earlier task force composed of Federal Aviation Administration officials, airport staff, local elected officials and community members.

Many community leaders were upset when the one-year task force was disbanded last year. It had resolved some problems but not others, so Galanter has sought another way for residents and aviation officials to continue to work on remaining issues.
