Waves’ Victory Fails to Earn Playoff Spot

Gustavo Leal scored three goals in the first 13 minutes Saturday as the Waves defeated Connecticut, 4-3, in an A-League soccer match at Connecticut.
Despite the victory, Orange County was eliminated from postseason play after the El Paso Patriots defeated Atlanta, 2-1, clinching the final playoff spot.
The Waves finished the season 12-15-1. Connecticut finished 1-19-8.
