South and North Korean team officials have met face to face and, after selecting flag-carriers and finalizing uniform details, pronounced themselves “ready” for the historic joint march in Friday’s opening ceremony.

“The ambience is very good,” South Korea’s IOC member, Kim Un Yong, said today.

Park Chong Chul, a male judoka from North Korea, and Chung Un Soon, a female basketball player from the South, will together carry the Korean flag of “unification” behind which a joint delegation of 180 will march.

Emblazoned on the white flag is a blue depiction of the Korean peninsula. The delegation will be called “Korea” in the opening ceremony; the marching uniform will consist of a blue blazer, with beige pants for men and a beige skirt for women, a white shirt and an orange tie decorated with purple stripes that swirl down to a purple, silver and black picture of a bird. Kim and the North Korean IOC member, Chang Ung, are considering joining in the march.
