A 58-year-old man was fatally injured Tuesday when his motorcycle was struck by a car in a Lake Forest intersection.
Police were withholding the Lake Forest resident’s identity late Tuesday pending notification of relatives. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident--Mark H. Carrera, 30, of Vista--was arrested on outstanding warrants and taken to Orange County Jail while the incident was being investigated.
The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. as the motorcyclist was making a left turn from southbound Serrano Road onto eastbound El Toro Road, said Lt. Colin Murphy, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. A white pickup truck driven by Carrera struck the motorcycle in the intersection, Murphy said.
The motorcyclist was thrown to the pavement and his bike landed on top of him, Murphy said. He was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he died about four hours later.
