Singles Sweeps Pace No. 4 Woodbridge

Using sweeps from its top two singles’ players, Woodbridge defeated visiting Capistrano Valley, 15-3, Wednesday in nonleague girls’ tennis.

The county’s fourth-ranked team received sweeps from Susanna Lingman and sophomore Elizabeth Exon to improve its record to 3-2.

Capistrano Valley is also 3-2.

In other nonleague matches:

No. 6 Canyon 11, Mission Viejo 7--The No. 3 doubles team of seniors Kathryn Huey and Areza Rad swept, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3, for the Comanches (5-0).

No. 9 Sunny Hills 13, Esperanza 5--Katie Williams and Molly Shih, the Lancers’ No. 1 doubles’ team, swept, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2. Sunny Hills is 5-1; Esperanza is 2-3.

Bolsa Grande 18, Anaheim 0--Freshman Ngan Doan swept, 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, for the Matadors (5-0).

Calvary Chapel 15, Pacifica 3--The Eagles’ (5-0, 3-0) singles players, Ashley Nelson, Amy Leece and Casey Conrad, swept their nine sets. Pacifica is 2-2, 1-1.

Santa Margarita 14, Irvine 4--Tatiana Steinberg swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for host Santa Margarita.

In nonleague golf:

No. 1 University 128, Laguna Hills 151--Junior Angela Won shot a three-over par 39 and medaled for visiting University (4-0) at Laguna Woods.

Sunny Lee shot a 43 and Michelle Barth a 46 for the Trojans.

No. 2 Villa Park 126, St. Margaret’s 141--Priscilla Park and Shelly Raworth were co-medalists for host Villa Park (3-0), both shooting four-over 40 at Tustin Ranch.

No. 7 Dana Hills 118, No. 8 Aliso Niguel 124, Capistrano Valley 131--Carling Cho made a four-foot putt to eagle the ninth hole and help the Dolphins to victory at Aliso Viejo.

Cho finished with a two-under 34.

Leisl Hasbrouck of Aliso Niguel also eagled the ninth and shot 37.

No. 9 Rosary 129, Claremont 148--Freshman Jennifer Sanders shot seven-over 40 and Eileen Jonas 41 for the Royals (6-0) at Fullerton.

El Dorado 139, Canyon 156--Stella Min shot eight-over 44 for El Dorado (4-0) and Corri Lopez shot 48 for Canyon at Anaheim Hills.

Huntington Beach 125, Orange Lutheran 149--Chelsea Lucas medaled for host Huntington Beach (4-0), shooting eight-over 39 at David L. Baker.

Newport Harbor 289, Foothill 314--Lindsay Galbraith and Kelly Hunt were co-medalist’s, both shooting 91 for Newport Harbor (2-0), at Tustin Ranch and Costa Mesa, a combined par 71.

In nonleague girls’ volleyball:

La Habra 3, No. 9 Capistrano Valley 1--Keao Burdine had 14 kills and 16 digs, setter Maggie Williams had 44 assists and Kristina Baum had six blocks for host La Habra (4-0), which won, 15-4, 15-7, 5-15, 15-8.

Ashley Thometz had 15 kills for Capistrano Valley (3-1).

El Toro 3, Laguna Hills 1--Kim Wilson had 13 kills and Krista Kimble had 12 for visiting El Toro (2-0), which won, 15-5, 15-13, 9-15, 15-8.

Kristen Brooks had 19 kills for Laguna Hills (2-2).

Savanna 3, Saddleback 0--Jackie Pyle had eight kills and Stacie Leach had six aces for visiting Savanna (1-2), which won, 15-1, 15-9, 15-11.

Sunny Hills 3, Aliso Niguel 2--Renee Garand had 24 kills and 25 assists for the host Lancers (1-3), who won, 10-15, 16-14, 13-15, 15-8, 15-6.

Ashly Griggs had 17 kills for Aliso Niguel (5-1).

In nonleague boys’ water polo:

No. 9 Santa Margarita 12, Canyon 6--Kevin Bayless had a career-high 19 saves and teammates Garrett Marquis and Nick Nolan scored two goals each to lead Santa Margarita (7-1).

Dana Hills 15, Laguna Hills 3--Mike McErlean scored five goals and goalkeeper Justin Corea made 20 saves for the host Dolphins (6-0). Ryan Andrews scored all three goals for Laguna Hills (1-2).

Troy 17, Northwood 9--Kevan Koskie scored six goals and Evan Markstrum had four for host Troy (5-2), which led, 16-5, after three quarters.
