4 Arrested After Gunfight With Undercover Police

A gunfight between Anaheim undercover police and suspected gang members ended without injuries in the parking lot of a restaurant, police said Thursday.

Four men were arrested after the Wednesday night gun battle. It was triggered when the suspects apparently mistook six undercover narcotics officers for rival gang members.

The four suspects, who were riding in a white Chevrolet Suburban, allegedly challenged the Anaheim police officers for “being in the neighborhood” and fired into one of three unmarked police cars, said Anaheim Police Capt. Dave Severson.

The police returned fire, authorities said.

The gunfight was in a section of the city claimed by the Fullerton Tokers Town, a gang dating to the 1920s, said Fullerton Police Lt. Michael Maynard.

Juan Manuel Ramos, 24, and Isaac Castillo, 20, of Fullerton, Adriel Joshua Garcia, 18, of La Habra, and Salvador Antonio Garcia, 23, of Anaheim were arrested by Fullerton police on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

No one was injured in the shootout in a business district lined with shops and restaurants.

Each of the suspects is being held in the Fullerton city jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
