Quarterback Steven Beltran passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as Monroe High pounded Cleveland, 49-0, Friday night in a nonleague game at Cleveland.

Beltran’s three touchdown passes were his only completions of the first half.

He threw scoring passes of six yards to Antonio Llerenas, 54 yards to Jonathan King and 16 yards to Brandon Scales to give Monroe a 28-0 halftime lead.

Seven players scored touchdowns for Monroe (1-2), which last week forfeited its game to Canoga Park because Coach Chris Richards did not have player emergency cards at the game site.

Monroe’s Jeffrey Young rushed for 145 yards in 13 carries, including a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Beltran added 85 yards in six carries and scored on a two-yard run in the third quarter.

Cleveland (2-1) managed only one first down and was limited to 46 yards in the first half.

Running back Matthew Clark of Cleveland rushed for 19 yards in seven carries.

Quarterback Antwine Barfield, who threw for minus-four yards in the first half, finished nine of 19 for 143 yards. Barfield, who was sacked twice, had two passes intercepted.
