SEAL BEACH
Facing increased opposition, a community group raising money to improve and beautify a stretch of Ocean Avenue has withdrawn plans for the privately funded project.
The Trees for Seal Beach Foundation announced Wednesday that it is dropping plans for a demonstration project on a section of Ocean Avenue that would have given residents an idea of what the street would be like with wider parkways and a narrower street.
“With people fighting this even before the demonstration phase, it was not worth our time, energy and money to proceed,” said foundation President Jim Watson.
