City leaders this week approved construction contracts for several large-scale public works projects, including the Community Transportation Center and renovation of Los Robles Golf Course.

At their regular meeting Tuesday, council members unanimously approved:

* Spending $11.7 million to install a new irrigation system and tee boxes, replace putting greens and build a new banquet center and pro shop at the city-owned Los Robles Golf Course. The bulk of the money will come from a city bond issue and golfers’ fees.

* A $2-million construction contract to build a Community Transportation Center on Rancho Road, near the Ventura Freeway. Approved in July, the plan calls for upgrading an existing 4.8-acre park-and-ride lot to include bike racks, bus shelters, restrooms, security lighting and landscaping.

* Spending $1.9 million to extend Rolling Oaks Drive between Janss and Rancho roads. The 44-foot-wide section of roadway will include sidewalks and bike lanes. It will be funded with gas tax money included in the city’s budget.

* A $755,000 contract for a landscaping project at the interchange of Westlake Boulevard and the Ventura Freeway. The freeway ramps and street medians near the interchange should be planted with flowers and bushes by next fall.
