Pedestrian Falls Into Road, Dies
A Santa Ana man died late Saturday after falling in front of an oncoming car, police said Sunday.
Guadalupe Hernandez Vazquez, a native of Mexico, was crossing Harbor Boulevard near 5th Street in Santa Ana around 11:45 p.m. when he apparently tripped over the raised median and “launched himself into the street,” said Officer Robert Faster of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Vazquez was hit by a passing Toyota Tercel traveling about 40 mph. He was pronounced dead at the scene from chest injuries, according to an Orange County coroner’s official.
The driver was traveling within the speed limit and was not cited, Faster said. --JASON SONG
