Police Shooting
* I would like to comment on the shooting of a man with a knife in his home by Gardena police (April 2). Why is it that police officers in other countries who don’t even carry guns at all can deal with this kind of situation without resorting to violence? As a European, I find the actions of the Gardena police to be despicable. I suggest that a police officer should not be allowed to carry a gun for the first seven years of active duty. This will help develop much-needed techniques for dealing with the general public and weed out those who have joined the police force for all the wrong reasons.
