In another Freeway League game:
Fullerton 11, Troy 8--Chris Stevenson had four hits and drove in two runs for Fullerton (5-5, 4-2), which also got two doubles from Joe Echaves. Rollie Gutierrez had four hits for Troy (5-8, 2-4).
In the Empire League:
Cypress 4, Loara 1--Paul Mezzetta took a no-hitter into the sixth and settled for a two-hitter for host Cypress (10-3, 4-2). Mezzetta had five strikeouts and allowed two walks. Jason Filarey hit a home run, his fifth of the season, with a man on in the first inning.
In the Golden West League:
Ocean View 13, Tustin 12--Ocean View rallied from an early 10-3 deficit to pull out the victory.
B.J. DuBarry had four hits and Daryk Barton hit two home runs for the Seahawks (7-5, 3-2).
Jorge Lopez had three RBIs for Tustin (4-7-1, 3-1-1).
In the Orange League:
Anaheim 6, Brea Olinda 5 (8 innings)--Eric Echavarria singled in Ramiro Gonzalez from second with two out in the eighth to win it for host Anaheim (7-6, 3-3).
Valencia 10, Savanna 0 (5 innings, mercy)--Robert Hernandez pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out five, and also had three hits, scored two runs and drove in two.
In the Sea View League:
No. 4 Irvine 10, Woodbridge 9 (8 innings)--Jon de Vries homered twice, including a game-winning shot in the bottom of the eighth, and drove in five runs. Chad Hazlett added four hits for the Vaqueros (11-2, 7-1). Woodbridge (5-8, 2-6) tied the score in the seventh on Brian Beck’s two-run single and Brian Martinez’s fielder’s choice.
Aliso Niguel 5, Newport Harbor 3--Todd Difley, a senior left-hander, pitched a three-hitter, striking out 13, and Chris Fielder and Pat Hebeler homered for the Wolverines (10-3, 6-2).
In the South Coast League:
No. 8 Mission Viejo 5, Dana Hills 4--Sophomore Taylor Holiday hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to wipe out a 3-1 deficit.
Travis Herwehe went the distance for the Diablos (8-3-1, 4-1-1), striking out 11.
In the Sunset League:
Fountain Valley 1, No. 1 Esperanza 0--Keith Mastel’s one-out, first-inning double scored Brandon Daguio with the game-winner for Fountain Valley.
Josh Bartusick pitched a five-hitter for the Barons (8-5, 4-2), not allowing a runner past second base.
