A Glendale man was shot four times and killed after a dispute with his brother-in-law, Glendale police said Friday.

The two men were inside a car at 119 N. Belmont St., when an argument started, police said. Hartune Nipiossian, 41, allegedly shot Armen Blkhoyan, 38, four times in the upper torso, police said.

The victim fled southbound on Belmont Street on foot, when a car with three teenagers spotted him, police said. They picked him up to take him to the hospital, but saw a police station en route and pulled over.

“It appears the two men were inside the car, and the passenger shot the victim,” said Sgt. Rick Young. “During the struggle the suspect also shot his own hand.”

Blkhoyan died at County/USC Medical Center at 11:10 p.m., police said. Police found Nipiossian near the car where the argument took place, about two blocks from where they found the victim. He was bleeding from a gunshot to his left hand, Young said. Nipiossian is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail Medical Ward.
