Dead News Delivery Woman’s Pickup Sought
Garden Grove police Thursday asked for the public’s help in finding a pickup belonging to a woman believed murdered while delivering newspapers.
The body of Rocio Leon, 29, of Whittier was found near the curb on Lampson Avenue east of Western Street about 4 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
Leon was working as a newspaper carrier for the Orange County Register, and police said a preliminary investigation has led them to believe “the incident was more than a traffic accident.”
Garden Grove Police Lt. John Woods on Thursday declined to comment on the details of the suspected slaying, noting the pending investigation.
Police are searching for anyone who may have been in the area or seen Leon’s maroon 1986 Nissan pickup with California license plate 6K23812. Anyone with information is asked to call (714) 741-5704.
