Canoga Ave. Ramp Sign to Be Moved

Dear Traffic Talk:

For drivers heading south on Canoga Avenue toward the southbound Ventura Freeway onramp, there should be a sign large enough for people to see before they reach the freeway. The only sign in sight is directly across from the freeway entrance, but you need to get into the left lane long before you can see it.

Dear Josephine:

Because there are a lot of trees blocking drivers’ view of the sign, workers will move it 250 feet north, said Ken Firoozmand, West Valley district engineer at the city Department of Transportation. This change will allow drivers to see the sign earlier, he said.

Can a four-way stop be installed at the intersection of Farralone Avenue and Tiara Street in Woodland Hills?

Dear Jeff:

Following a comprehensive traffic engineering study of the intersection, officials determined that the location does not meet city guidelines for all-way stop signs, said Firoozmand of the city transportation department.

Engineers who observed the area analyzed vehicle counts, reported accidents and drivers’ speed, he said.

At the intersection of Reseda and Ventura boulevards, can a left-turn arrow be installed for motorists heading west on Ventura and turning south onto Reseda? There is an arrow for those heading east on Ventura turning left to go north on Reseda.

Following a study, engineers determined the intersection does not meet city guidelines for installing another left-turn signal, said Firoozmand of the city transportation department.

The volume of drivers turning south onto Reseda is too low to warrant installing a left-turn arrow, Firoozmand said.
