Man Surrenders After Woman Is Freed
A manicurist kidnapped by her armed ex-boyfriend turned up safe at her Signal Hill home Thursday after being released, authorities said.
Truonghat Nguyen, 25, of Pomona allegedly burst into a Long Beach nail salon in the 5400 block of Cherry Avenue on Wednesday, fired his semiautomatic weapon into the ceiling, and abducted Tran Huynh, said Long Beach Officer Jana Blair. Huynh had obtained a restraining order against Nguyen the day before, Blair said.
On Thursday, Nguyen turned himself in to Pomona police hours after he released Huynh, 25, on a Claremont street, Blair said. Nguyen, who is being held at the Long Beach jail, is to be arraigned today and is being held on $250,000 bail, Blair said. He faces charges of kidnapping, attempted sexual assault and firing a weapon into an inhabited building, she said.
