City Election Results Certified

From Times Wire Reports

Weeks after concerns were raised over unguarded ballots and a contentious public power initiative that fell just short, the Nov. 6 vote was certified Tuesday by Elections Director Tammy Haygood.

The official Statement of Vote was to be made available Wednesday, but that may not bring an end to questions surrounding the election.

Last week, elections officials counted 240 ballots that were found more than three weeks after election day. Also, the lids of eight ballot boxes were found floating in San Francisco Bay.

Proponents of a losing ballot measure that would have expanded the city’s public utilities commission into a department of water and power have questioned the results and threatened legal action.
