Man Fatally Shot by Acquaintance, Police Say
A man was shot to death in a frontyard Wednesday afternoon by someone he was with minutes earlier, police said.
Rafael Tapia, 59, was shot multiple times in the upper body on the 400 block of East Banning Street near Santa Fe Avenue in Compton, said Sheriff’s Deputy Rich Pena. About 11:30 a.m., Tapia arrived at the address with another man and 30 minutes later, he was fatally shot, Pena said.
The suspect fled in a waiting gray compact car. Anyone with information may call (323) 890-5500.
