Grizzlies Sweat Out First New York Win

Shane Battier scored 21 points, including a tiebreaking jumper with 9.8 seconds left, and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies defeated New York, 90-88, Thursday night as the Knicks missed five shots in the final six seconds.

It was the first victory in New York for the Grizzlies, who lost their previous five games at Madison Square Garden. Memphis won for only the second time this season on the road and dealt the Knicks their fifth loss in six games.

Stromile Swift scored 15, Pau Gasol had 14, and Jason Williams had 11 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for Memphis.

Dallas 113, Milwaukee 101--Michael Finley and Steve Nash each scored 33 points at Dallas for the Mavericks’ season-high fifth consecutive victory.

Toronto 96, Chicago 91--Vince Carter scored 29 of his 33 points in the second half and led the Raptors on a 16-5 run at Toronto after Charles Oakley floored him with a forearm below the chin in the fourth quarter.
