Stojakovic and Friends Power Kings

Peja Stojakovic scored 27 points and all five Sacramento starters reached double figures Friday night as the Kings defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 125-111, at Sacramento.

The victory was their ninth consecutive at Arco Arena, improving the Kings (22-9) to an NBA-best 16-1 at home this season.

After watching a lead that was once 17 points dip to six early in the fourth quarter, five different players scored for the Kings in a 9-1 run that gave them a 106-92 lead with 6:51 remaining.

The lead remained in double figures the rest of the game as the Kings won their third consecutive and improved to 6-2 with Chris Webber in the lineup.

Webber finished with 22 points and eight rebounds, Mike Bibby had 21 points and seven assists, Vlade Divac had 17 points and Doug Christie had 12.

Wally Szczerbiak scored 21 of his 31 points in the second half for the Timberwolves.

Denver 93, Philadelphia 90--Nick Van Exel scored 33 points and James Posey made two free throws with 3.6 seconds left at Denver as the Nuggets ended a four-game losing streak.

Allen Iverson scored 38 points, shooting 14 for 29 and scoring 14 in the final quarter.

The 76ers were without Coach Larry Brown, who complained of muscle spasms in his right shoulder and neck and never came out of the locker room.

Milwaukee 105, Charlotte 89--Sam Cassell scored 29 points and Glenn Robinson had 21 at Charlotte, N.C., to lead the Bucks to a lopsided victory.

It was the third consecutive victory for the Bucks, who were without Ray Allen for a fourth consecutive game because of tendinitis in his left knee.

Cleveland 98, New York 88--Jumaine Jones scored a career-high 28 points, shooting 12 for 19 to lead the Cavaliers at Cleveland.

Jones and point guard Andre Miller, who had 25 points and 11 assists, helped Cleveland overcome a 15-point deficit.

Memphis 91, Miami 86--Jason Williams had 19 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds at Miami as the Grizzlies won for the fourth time in five games. The Heat (5-22) have already surpassed the 21 losses Coach Pat Riley endured in 1996-97, his best season at Miami.

Orlando 87, Detroit 78--Darrell Armstrong scored 21 points and the Magic used an early 25-4 run at Orlando, Fla., to hand the Pistons their seventh consecutive loss and end its own three-game losing streak.

Houston 100, Golden State 93--Cuttino Mobley scored 31 points and Kenny Thomas had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Rockets won their 12th consecutive on the Warriors’ home court.
