Accidents, Outage Caused by Winds

Share

High winds caused several minor accidents Wednesday as drivers swerved to miss debris in the road, mostly tree branches, authorities said.

In Simi Valley, a palm frond struck a power line about 10 a.m. in the 2400 block of Fitzgerald Road, knocking out service to about 4,000 customers for 30 minutes.

The affected area was between Azure Hills Drive, Cochran Street, Talbert Avenue and Sinaloa Road, said Rudy Gonzales, an Edison spokesman.

A felled tree was reported in Fillmore, and the California Highway Patrol had a wind advisory in place for drivers on California 126 and 118 for most of the day.

The Coast Guard issued a small-craft advisory Wednesday after gusts topping 45 mph caused ocean swells measuring between 4 and 6 feet. No incidents involving watercraft were reported, authorities said.
