Taylor Sews Up Chaminade Victory

Kim Taylor scored with four minutes left in the second half to give Chaminade High a 2-1 victory over Harvard-Westlake in a Mission League girls’ soccer game Friday at Chaminade.

Taylor’s 22nd goal of the season tied the school record set by Tara Donoghue last season. It came 20 minutes after teammate Jessica Kaczorowski tied the score, 1-1.

Chaminade (15-4-2, 7-0 in league play), the No. 5-ranked team in the region by The Times, took sole possession of first place over No. 3 Harvard-Westlake (10-2-4, 6-1).

Oak Park 4, La Reina 3--Amy Poyer scored on a penalty kick with 10 minutes left to give the Eagles a Tri-Valley League victory at Wildflower Playfield in Thousand Oaks.

Oak Park (16-6, 8-0) clinched a share of its second consecutive league title.

Monica Thompson had two goals for La Reina.

Verdugo Hills 5, Hollywood 0--Anabel Ramirez and Brenda Lazo each scored two goals in a Sunset Six League game at Verdugo Hills (9-3-2, 5-1-1).

Saugus 6, Burbank 0--Rachel Gillis scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season for the Centurions (12-5-7, 4-2-3) in a Foothill League game at Burbank.

Valencia 2, Burroughs 0--Melanie Ervin scored her 12th and 13th goals of the season for the Vikings (18-3-2, 6-2-1) in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Hart 2, Canyon 1--Ali Pavoni scored her 20th goal in the 65th minute and the Indians (11-6-5, 5-1-3) won a Foothill League game at Canyon (17-2-4, 5-2-2).

Mandy Mansfield’s goal gave Hart a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.

Agoura 1, Royal 0--Mollie Taylor scored midway through the second half for Agoura (8-8-4, 5-2-1) in a Marmonte League game at Royal.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Calabasas 2, Malibu 2--Andrew Inagaki scored with nine minutes left in the second half to give the Coyotes a tie in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Danny Barth also scored for Calabasas (13-4-4, 4-1-1).

Reseda 3, Monroe 2--Willy Sims scored three goals for the Regents (19-5-2, 5-2-1) in a Valley Mission League game at Reseda.

Quartz Hill 5, Palmdale 4--Mark Cipolla and Scott Hazard each scored two goals to lead the Rebels (21-2-1, 8-0-1) to a Golden League victory at Quartz Hill.

Thousand Oaks 3, Moorpark 3--Nathan Chu scored on the rebound of a penalty kick to get the Lancers (8-4-5, 4-2-2) even in a Marmonte League match at Moorpark.

Garret Heathcote scored two goals for Moorpark (3-12-4, 1-7-1).

Van Nuys 1, Kennedy 0--Alex Shirokov scored in the 65th minute of a Valley Mission League game at Kennedy.

Jose Renteria had 10 saves for Van Nuys (8-7-2, 2-5).

Lancaster 3, Highland 2--Leo Arabia scored with 10 minutes left and the Eagles (12-4-2, 5-2-1) won a Golden League game at Highland.

Campbell Hall 4, Whitney 1--Sean Turner scored four goals and the Vikings (8-5, 3-4-1) won a Delphic League game at Whitney.

San Fernando 1, Sylmar 0--Humberto Hernandez scored in a Valley Mission League game at San Fernando (8-7-2, 5-2-1).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Calabasas 8, Malibu 7--Christina Johnson scored with nine seconds remaining to lift the Coyotes in a Frontier League game at Malibu.
