Fire Strikes Garden Grove Garage Twice

Share

What started as a small garage fire at a Garden Grove home late Wednesday flared up again into a far more threatening blaze early Thursday, hours after firefighters had left.

Firefighters were called to 10812 Holly Drive shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, after owner Mike Lyons, at far left in photo, noticed smoke in the garage, where he runs a computer business. That blaze caused about $10,000 damage to the garage and about $5,000 worth of damage to its contents, Garden Grove Fire Department officials said in a written statement.

Lyons said he was awakened about 6 a.m. Thursday by a neighbor pounding on his door, saying the garage was on fire again. This time, flames had engulfed the structure and had begun to spread to the house.

The fire destroyed the garage and damaged the home. A dollar amount for the additional damage was not available. The cause was under investigation Thursday, Fire Department officials said.
