One woman was shot to death and her sister and a security guard were wounded in an attack at a popular restaurant and nightclub in Windsor Hills early Tuesday, authorities said.

In a separate case, a gunman wounded seven people outside a West Hollywood-area nightclub after an argument broke out, police said.

Alvin Turner, 42, the suspect in the Windsor Hills shooting, turned himself in at the Marina del Rey sheriff’s station, according to a department spokesman.

Earlier in the day, homicide detectives said they were trying to determine whether Turner, a Compton resident, is a current or former husband of one of the sisters.

Turner was kicked out of La Louisanne restaurant about 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to detectives.

He was next seen in the restaurant’s parking lot about 1:30 a.m., as the two sisters attempted to leave in a car, authorities said.

Turner opened fire on the women in the parking lot near a side entrance, killing the 42-year-old driver, said Lt. Tom Martin.

The second woman, 47, then jumped out of the car and was chased back into the restaurant by the suspect, Martin said.

About 20 customers saw the gunman shooting at the woman. She was hit in the upper body and a 56-year-old security guard was wounded in the leg before the gunman ran from the restaurant, Martin said.

Both of the wounded were treated at UCLA Medical Center. Their conditions were not available Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Department would not release the victims’ names, pending notification of their families.

On Tuesday morning, business continued as usual inside La Louisanne, known for its Creole food and live jazz acts. Customers at the restaurant, about a mile southwest of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza shopping mall, ate near a bullet-damaged window at the front of the restaurant. A worker replaced a door that had been hit by gunfire.

Restaurant management declined to comment.

In the West Hollywood case, an argument between a man and a woman started about 2:15 a.m. as the Vesuvius restaurant and nightclub at 650 N. La Cienega Blvd. was closing, said Los Angeles Police Capt. Mike Downing.

Other people became involved in the fight, and at some point a man went to a white limousine and armed himself, Downing said. He started shooting into the crowd, striking six men and one woman, the captain said.

Authorities said three victims remained hospitalized in stable condition late Tuesday.
