An 18-year-old man was carjacked in front of his house Sunday afternoon by a man who pointed a gun at his head and told him to get out of the vehicle, police said.

Carlos Andrade wasn’t injured in the 4:30 p.m. incident in the 200 block of South D Street. His red 1989 Honda CRX was recovered a short time later in an alley about a mile away, Oxnard police said.

The stolen vehicle had been crashed into a carport in the 1800 block of North H Street, and there was extensive front-end damage, police said. Officers were unable to find any witnesses to the crash.

According to Oxnard Police Officer Marc Amon, Andrade was preparing to leave his house when the passenger from a white Honda sedan parked nearby walked up and stuck the gun through the victim’s open driver’s-side window.

The gunman drove off in the stolen car, following the driver of the white Honda sedan. The gunman was described as Latino, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8, 180 pounds, bald and wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

Andrade was unable to see the driver of the white Honda because the vehicle had tinted windows and the driver never left the car, officers said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 385-7624.
