* Yuks--UC Santa Barbara’s Arts & Lecture series will present two screenings of Margaret Cho’s critically acclaimed film of her solo stage show, “I’m the One That I Want,” tonight at Campbell Hall on campus. Cho, who has been described as “engagingly raunchy,” touches on everything from her promiscuity to her affection for gay men (“Some people are raised by wolves; I was raised by drag queens.”) Show times: 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. $5-$6. 893-3535.
* Arts--UC Santa Barbara’s University Art Museum will present “Just Another Poster? Chicano Graphic Arts in California,” opening Friday at the university’s MultiCultural Center Theater. Artist and activist Jose Montoya will deliver the keynote address. During the opening reception, the exhibition will be available for viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. 893-2951.
* Musical--Santa Barbara Blues Society will present a benefit showing of “Jelly Roll” on Friday and Saturday at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara. The off-Broadway musical follows the rise of Jelly Roll Morton, a New Orleans musical legend and the self-proclaimed creator of jazz. * Orchestra--The Community Arts Music Assn. of Santa Barbara will present the Los Angeles Philharmonic with conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen in concert Saturday at the Arlington Theatre, 1317 State St., Santa Barbara. * Stargazing--The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History will host a star party Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the museum, 2559 Puesta del Sol Road, Santa Barbara. The museum’s astronomy club will prepare the museum grounds for viewings of Jupiter, Saturn and their moons. * Dance--Lula & Afro-Brasil will perform samba music Saturday for an installment of the “Dancing Under the Influence” series at SOhO restaurant, 1221 State St., Santa Barbara. * Strings--UC Santa Barbara’s Arts and Lecture series will present a concert with the St. Petersburg String Quartet on Wednesday at Campbell Hall. The Grammy-nominated quartet will make its Santa Barbara debut performing works by Prokofiev, Glazunov and Nadarejshvili. Students: $13-$19, general: $19-$25. 893-3535.
