Rutgers guard Renardo Brown will be eligible to play the final nine games of the season, starting Jan. 27 at Syracuse.

Brown has been ineligible since Dec. 14. At that time, Rutgers determined an NCAA rule was misapplied after Brown’s transfer from Mott Community College in Flint, Mich., in August 1999.

The NCAA ruled on Friday that Brown must sit out nine games, the number of games he played before being declared ineligible. Two of the games were exhibitions.

“We are relieved that the case has been resolved and that Renardo knows when he will be able to return to competition,” Rutgers Athletic Director Robert Mulcahy said. “We are happy that we received an expedient ruling on this and that Renardo will be able to resume his career.”
