Trenell Eddings made a one-handed shot from the free-throw line with two seconds remaining in overtime to lift UC Riverside over Sacramento State, 90-88, in a nonconference game Friday at Sacramento.
Vili Morton scored 21 points, making all 10 of his field goals, to lead the Highlanders (7-11), who shot 62.7%. Eddings had 17 points.
Pablo Gonzales led the Hornets (3-12) with a game-high 27 points.

Nevada Las Vegas President Carol Harter is blaming the media for interfering with the school’s attempt to hire Rick Pitino as its coach. “I think the press is creating a crisis that doesn’t exist,” Harter said at the University of Nevada Board of Regents meeting. . . . Wichita State Coach Mark Turgeon was reprimanded by the Missouri Valley Conference for criticizing officials after a loss to Southern Illinois on Wednesday. . . . DePaul center Lance Williams will be out up to three weeks because of a strained right calf and forward Jon Oden will be out three to six weeks because of ligament damage in his right ankle. . . . WOMEN / Temple Falls to No. 23 Xavier Taru Tuukkanen scored 26 points, four in a late 9-0 run, as No. 23 Xavier (13-2, 4-1 Atlantic 10) defeated Temple, 73-63, Friday night at Philadelphia. Lisa Jakubowicz led the Owls (10-5, 3-1) with 15 points.
